Aid Another: Run sports teams for kids and host dances for all ages and disabilities, including neurotypical individuals. Also, provide support to parents through Dad’s Night Out and Mom’s Night Out socials at various locations throughout Virginia Beach.
Autism Society Tidewater VA: The Autism Society Tidewater Virginia’s mission is to create connections, empowering everyone in the Autism community with the resources needed to live fully. They envision a world where everyone in the Autism community is connected to the support they need, when they need it – including education, advocacy efforts, and supports and services throughout their lifespan.
Commonwealth Autism: Provide free resource navigation services to autistic individuals and their families and have a resource database with almost 1,000 entries throughout Virginia. Adolescent and Adult Programs for young adults who live at home with a parent or supportive party and want to live independently.
Culinary Connections by Easterseals UCP: Culinary Connections is an innovative, immersive kitchen experience for individuals to learn cooking techniques, food diversity, nutritional literacy, kitchen safety, sanitation, and more. Cooking with Friends program is for children 5-9 years old with autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities to intentionally practice social and fine motor skills while learning and playing with food. The Recipe for Independence program is for 16+ year-olds with autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities who are interested in cooking. Participants learn cooking skills, healthy meal choices, kitchen safety, sanitation and more.
Families of Autism Coming Together (FACT): Provides social and recreational programs that enhance social and communication skills and promote community integration. Offer social, sports, and leisure programs year-round and a summer camp for autistic individuals 6-40 years old. I recommend signing up for their newsletter to stay informed of upcoming programs.
Lider Counseling: Alfred Howard is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and specializes in family conflict, anxiety, and autism.
Sentara Pediatric Therapy: Offer neurodiversity-affirming pediatric occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, and ADOS-2 assessments.
Social Butterflies Club: Provides social communication therapy groups for children in a fun, structured environment. The unique structure of the program also develops speech, language, fine motor, gross motor, and social/play skills. Offer summer camps for kids and middle schoolers as well.
