Thomas Jefferson was inspired by the natural beauty of the Poplar Forest landscape. In fact, he compiled much of the material for his only book, Notes on the State of Virginia, when he decamped to Poplar Forest to elude British capture in 1781. Join Dr. Eric Proebsting, the Director of Archaeology and Landscapes for an afternoon trek through the woodlands and meadows on the plantation grounds. Admission is $10 per person. Reservations are suggested, as participation is limited to 20.
Please Note: All visitors are required to maintain social distancing protocols and wear masks while on tours and in public buildings. Due to the changing nature of the COVID-19 protocols, all dates are subject to change, please visit www.poplarforest.org to confirm the date and time of an event.
