Movie : This Business of Autism
Thinking ahead about options after high school to support your youth with special needs in early adulthood? Foster, adoptive and kinship families are invited to our fall Family Movie Night on October 18. Following dinner together, children will enjoy a G-rated movie, structured activities and snacks, supervised by skilled child care attendants. Parents, caregivers and interested older youth will enjoy a screening of a new documentary “This Business of Autism”.
This transition-focused film explores what we can learn from director Stephen Mackey and the Spectrum Design employees. This session is designed for parents, caregivers and teens preparing for the transition to adulthood and employment. We will explore the possibilities and benefits of employing adults with special needs. Following the screening, we will discuss how families can begin to prepare their youth for entering the workforce.Don’t miss this FREE opportunity to learn, network, and make new friends.
Light pizza and salad dinner served to all at 5:30pm; movies start at 6:00. The event concludes by 8:00pm. If you or your children have special dietary needs, feel free to bring your own meal.
