Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and a corresponding drop in state revenue, Virginia projects a deficit for the 2020-2022 budget. This will be resolved by painful cuts in programs and services.
For the developmental disability community, the inability to raise provider rates and expand services will have a far reaching impact on individuals, families and service providers for years to come. New waiver slots won’t mean much if service providers cannot survive the Covid-19 pandemic.
We need to get the word out now while the General Assembly (GA) is in special session.
CRAAG is asking readers to join The Arc of Virginia’s campaign to contact Governor Northam on Tuesday, September 1 to ask for two things:
· Service Preservation Payments for hard hit businesses providing In Home, Nursing, Supported Employment, Community Engagement, Community Coaching, and Group Day Services
· Supplemental Covid Payments for hard hit businesses providing Supported Living, Sponsored Residential, and Group Home Residential providers
Open The Arc’s Action Alert for more information.
