At PosAbilities Academy we focus on providing a program for students who:
- Have a documented disability or diagnosis (developmental delay, autism, intellectual disability, etc.)
- Are 14 and older
- Require a more focused hands-on approach to vocational training
- Have difficulty following the standard curriculum
- Struggle with navigating a typical high school, and with making and maintaining peer relationships
- Have a tough time working in large groups, following directions in large groups or working independently for long periods of time
Admission to PosAbilities Academy is determined on a case-by-case basis. Our admission process includes interviews and assessments with our experienced staff as well as reviews of previous evaluations and documentation. We review each and every application we receive.
PosAbilities Summer Programs focus is to develop fun programs for individuals with intellectual and development disabilities with five goals in mind:
1. Explore new interest and develop skills through leisure activities
2. Gain independence in daily living skills
3. Gain independence in the community and make new friends
4. Follow instructions from a variety of individuals
5. Increase skills needed to navigate community settings
PosAbilities Academy Vocational (PAV) Step Program
Our unique PAV Step Program, transitions students from the classroom into the workforce using evidence based strategies earning a certificates in Work Readiness and various careers tracks. PosAbilities Academy offers a variety of tracks including courses in independent living, work readiness and hands-on vocational training as well as functional academics (math and reading) and several electives. PosAbilities Offers flexible schedules and tuition options. Students can register for full semester course or our PAV Step Program or specific courses of their interest.
